I agree with the other posters, cute character! Clearly, a lot of the work put in this game is in Batsy them(?)selves. Idle & walk animations, unique ‘flappy’ control style fitting with the animal-type. (Though occasionally a bit unpredictable to control.)
I also like the dithering.
Good grief ‘sudden fixed camera angles’, I’d forgotten about those. I really appreciate the cleverness of including them in a game-jam like this, but in general, I’m glad we mostly left that in the 90s. (Especially switching directions like that right after jumping off the long tower.)
Other than that, there’s not much more to it. (Except the dialogue system, which I liked as well.) I know from multiple experiences that running out of time can hurt!
I noticed a couple of instances of z-fighting as well (that’s when the polygons of a mesh are exactly on top of each other, so the render things another one is on top for each frame or pixel) – I made a gif of it, let’s see if I can attach it.
(Don’t worry, it didn’t look quite as bad as in the gif … some of it is compression.)
(Oh and another couple of things: Please put the controls in the description! It took me a while to figure out that Z was the menu key… and I only tried that because I knew about the frequent arrows/Z/X/space control scheme of indie-games. Lastly, when zipping more than one file, it’s appreciated if you put them in a folder, 2 files isn’t so bad, but imagine clicking unzip here and it explodes all over your download folder.)
