Afer playing the game a few times, I have concluded that it's great! Though I would like to make some suggestions in case you want to make it longer or make another one similar:

-I think it would be even scarier if the noises you made alerted the witch. We kind of see this with the music box and when you take the key from her bedroom, but there could be more. For example, running, jumping or droping a book while the witch is downstairs would make her run upstairs and quickly walk left and right.

-Not only would noise make her walk towards the player, but making noise while they are hiding from her while she is right next to them could also make the witch discover you.

-I think it would be really nice if you had to interact with things in order to be able to hide, instead of always having an obvious hiding place. For example, she would have to lift up the tablecloth of a table before hiding under it, or open and close a door to hide in a closet. The player would have to look around, think and guess which places could be a place to hide, as they hear the witch approaching.

-More weird animals like the snail. :D

-I think it would be cool if, when the girl hides in a closet, the game switched from third person POV to first person, so she can only see the witch from a small gap between the doors.

-If you make the game longer, I was thinking you could add more backstory, but I think you should keep making it subtle. For example, maybe at some point while you are hiding the witch sees herself in the mirror and cries, and you look at her from a small gap in the closet? I can see why you might not like it, since it could make her less scary.

That's all I can think of. Sorry for the long comment! I hope that if you see this you will find some of this interesting! :)

interesting suggestions for sure! i do want to make a sequel after finishing my current game project, and i will consider these when planning for it.
It's very unlikely that I will expand upon this build as I programmed the foundation really quickly with no consideration for scalability, so it would need to be a sequel which expands on the mechanics and fixes some of the gameplay issues.

Glad that you like the suggestions! And  I think a sequel would be great, a lot of people would buy it.

I look forward to your current project!
