I may be wrong but I am pretty sure you were supposed to make a game based on the topic. Which is the cold war. But again this is just what I have seen.

If you want to read the Jam description you can see that there are 3 main themes that are optional.

That's interesting because I see this, "

The Theme of the third Historically Accurate Game Jam is "Cold War""

And in the official jam discord the host states that the Cold War is the theme. So I do not know where you get this info.

The Historically Accurate game jam is a game development contest focussing around history. Over the course of a week, you have to make a game centred around a history-related theme. The goal of the jam is to inspire more developers to make games about history and, more importantly, have some fun! The jam is from the 27th of December - 3rd of January, so mark your calendars!

We also have a discord server, so feel free to join if you want to :)

The Theme of the third Historically Accurate Game Jam is "Cold War"

We have a multiple-round voting system to decide on our theme. Firstly, everyone can suggest up to 3 themes. Then, after a few months, you can select all the themes you'd be okay with making a game around. The top 10 from this round are then selected and voted on - however, this time you can only pick one! After this round, the top 5 are chosen. From these, everyone votes on the top 3. A few weeks before the jam, I announce these top 3. From these, I'll randomly (though weighted towards the vote proportion) select the theme and announce it to you all when the jam starts!

At the end of the jam, everyone who participated gets to judge everyone else's games. Games can be judged on by the following categories:

  • Overall Rating
  • Gameplay
  • Graphics
  • Audio
  • Historical Accuracy
  • Thematic Relevancy

If you place in the top 3, you get a copy of Pendragon, by Inkle Games

  1. No NSFW games (by NSFW, we mean sexual content)
  2. You can only use free assets and you must link them on your game's page
  3. There can be a maximum of 4 members in a team - otherwise the jam becomes unfair

Who can enter? Anyone. There's no skill floor - the jam is about having fun!

How much effort should I put in? There's no point overworking yourself, so do what you feel comfortable with!

What game engines am I allowed to use? All game engines are allowed!

This Game Jam is sponsored by Inkle games. If you want to check out their amazing games, including Independent Games Festival winner Heaven's Vault or their latest, somewhat historical, game Pendragon, go to https://www.inklestudios.com/

Wait so maybe I entered the wrong gamejam
