Your save is stored as a cookie! So if you ever wipe your cookies, that's it.
I'd recommend downloading the zip of the Windows version anyway!
thanks for letting me know, I knew it was on my end but I didn’t know what. I played it on my school issues chromebook which freaks out and will reset every once in awhile so it was definitely caused by that
