the problem is in the project sample scene and I did not change anything. ( just created a new unity project, imported the asset, and opened the sample scene )
I tried your solution ( layer name ) and the problem still exists.
all the animations and other project functionality work just fine.
I think there is a problem with the project version for itch.io .
