I get the red star end every single time. Any chance anyone knows what the major, "game changing" choices are? I just want to see the other endings.

TBH, it almost feels entirely random. I know it's not, but the difference is so small, I have trouble pinpointing it myself. My best advice is play around with who you go to lunch with. Not sure how much it changes, though.

what i noticed it was who you call during when you see starface outside of your room what triggers post starface. calling soren will block you and calling ev will give you options.

I've gotten passed it while calling Soren, and I've gotten past it while calling Evander. Got different endings.

SN: Beautiful ending and Dead End are 2 different numbered endings, but they are just the "good" and bad version of the same path.

Dead end is accusing the incorrect killers or giving up, and beautiful is getting the correct killers.

Yeah. I'm trying to recreate the time I got calling Soren to work. I don't remember exactly what I did. It did cause a bunch of cat eyes to pop up when I called him before the award show though, so I'll know when it happens. I think that's how I got ending 4 and 8.
