Theme: Time Travel is referenced here - one of the mechanics is to "go back in time" and you do go to a land filled with dinosaurs - so I guess it qualifies? I can see in the screenshots that there are other historical sites, so that works too. (I only got through 2 major environments)
Story: It's basic and gets the job done. There are some occasional grammar issues and the text is very small, but it can be read and provides instructions for how to get through the game while providing a little bit of context as to what's going on. The characters in the environments match the time periods represented.
Gameplay: I'm torn on this. The core mechanics are there - zooming around on a rocket to get to the destination works pretty well and you can attain some crazy speeds, maneuvering isn't too challenging and the objective is generally straightforward (sometimes literally) - but there are some quirks that rub me wrong. For instance, it's possible to fail the level even though you hit the goal; if you keep moving after the goal and run out of bounds, it counts as a failure. While this does mean you have to use the tools more thoughtfully than just blasting straight through the level, it also comes off as kind of cheap. Perhaps if it were made clearer from the outset that there is a precision aspect to the game it wouldn't be so aggravating? Also, the control scheme of WASD movement combined with pressing the shift key means the game can be played one-handed, but it also becomes tiring to my hand after a few levels. An option to configure the control scheme would be an ideal upgrade to the game.
Fun: This game is fun in spite of its flaws. Once I figured out that I had to land precisely on the end platform, it became an interesting balance between zooming like Sonic through the levels and slowing myself down enough to land correctly on the platforms. There also seems to be a wide variety of content in here, not something I normally see in game jam games.
Overall, there is a good game at the core here. I think just a tweak here and a little more explanation there and this could be a stellar game!
