I’d probably suggest adding some goal, such as catching five apples, and maybe add a sound that plays when you catch an apple. But it seems like it could be turned into a good game if you keep working on it after the jam. You might also want to decide what happens when the player moves off the edges of the screen (maybe stop them or maybe have them reappear on the other side of the screen).
And the art looks like it was rushed, but the colours work well: things that move are darker than things that don’t move, and then the dark things have some lighter details so it doesn’t look boring.
