I don't know if you are still working on this but MAN IS IT GOOD. I couldn't find any bugs even when I tried (except for the dead guy having no collision but he doesn't need too). It reminded me a lot of Half Life 1 playing it, and the map design is very late 90s 3D which I like. Great atmosphere even without sound. Reading all that text was kind of a chore but the lore is cool. Voice acting would be cool but I understand its just an Indie game. I'm in no way a professional voice actor but if you do consider voice acting for the logs or whatever I have a functioning mouth and throat and could form audible words for npcs (I'd do it for free, I really like this project so far). All in all I'm hooked, 10/10.
Hey Gabriel, thanks for the positive comment! The late 90s feel is precisely what I’m aiming for.
I still plan to complete this project, however I’m pausing the development for some time (hopefully short) because I want to improve my level editor so I can make the new levels faster. Now that you mentioned, I could split the text in smaller chunks to make it easier to digest. In any case it will always be optional content, skipping the logs might make the game harder but not impossible.
Thanks for offering your voice. I haven’t considered adding voices mainly because I don’t want to get into audio mixing since I know nothing about that. I’m just a programmer and a noob in modeling and texturing, so I want to avoid adding more complexity to a solo project. I plan to add some cool dark ambient track (CC maybe) and some generic sci-fi sound fx, don’t expect anything wow in this department. But if everything goes well I might consider adding voices, or maybe for a future project :D
