Hey there and thanks for asking! So long as you haven't started developing the Game Jam entry before the game jam (and it sounds like you haven't) then you're fine, even if you created a game within the same universe ahead of time.
It's all about whether or not you started THIS game (the game you are submitting) before the Game Jam started.
