oh... i just noticed the button in the lower-right-hand corner of the QTE that says, PULL...
sorry to bug you, no pun intended! XD i was clicking directly on the gauge/bar as the bug moved across the circular part, then the little arrow above it, then on the character's hand pulling the worm in time with the bug reaching the circle. never noticed the little button in the corner ^^;
