I redownloaded both the latest and previous version. both contained the same file which deemed malicious by the scanner, what should I do next
You need kaspersky or something like that.It happened to you because you were infected.
The Trojan.Generic could come back on your PC or Mac several times if you do not manage to detect and remove its hidden files and main objects. We suggest that you download an advanced removal software for your computer as it will scan for all types of malicious objects, installed with it. Removal attempt with a professional cleaner for Mac or Windows can happen in about 15 minutes time and may save you hours in trying to uninstall Trojan.Generic by yourself.
I don't think I have the software with me since my dad bought this second hand laptop. I haven't reset my PC before and my uncle said that I shouldn't do it without a software or it wouldn't be able to properly download the system and such. Going back to the kaspersky topic, My uncle said that I should probably upgrade my version to premium in order to be more secured. I also did a selective scan to the zip file of the latest version and it detected nothing so I thought it'd be better if I delete the zip file.
