Sure! The main menu is done & multiplayer support is currently in development. There'll be big changes to the map and there would be a large open world, complete with forests, snow, deserts, lagoons, beaches and cityscapes. You'll surely see it in the main release. The reason you didn't see all this is that it's a demo preview for a game that is currently in alpha.
Also, Custom map support is not planned for now, but who knows you might just see it one day.
