It's true that the story continues in a sequel. Unfortunately I had to do this because the file I was using was getting too slow as the game was getting longer. So Day 15 onwards is in a sequel. But it's reasonably priced, and will be updated monthly.
While 2$ is cheap its more about the principle. Now the page states that the story will continue in part two and buyers are aware of that. But everyone who bought it before the page was updated was given the impression they would be reciving all future updates until the story was finnished. For us this is pretty much a bait and switch.
This 100%. Also as the game is now $4 (so far, who knows how many parts this will end up being), which isn't cheap for the kind of game it is.
You're spot on, this is a bait and switch and we shouldn't support a creator who does this, there's plenty of other devs to ssupport who don't do shady stuff like this.
"I had to do this because the file I was using was getting too slow as the game was getting longer"
This is transparently untrue. You can upload more than one file on this game page. You promised the full game for one low payment, now you're asking for twice as much.
If you wanna do a sequel then finish up this plot and then release a sequel. Don't just decide to double the price and lock out all existing customers unless they agree to pay twice.
We're not talking a lot of money here (although many people will have paid over the advertised price), this is about saying your provide something, then deciding you weren't going to fulfill your promise unless people pay again. Why would I pay for more when you didn't fulfill what you said you would the last time I paid you?
I get the idea but, dude, you're just changing the price mid-thing. You already have patreon, people will pay for full hd artwork and other things, there is just no excuse to charge again from people who already bought it. It's unauthorized subscription, lol.
You're basically selling something that won't be ever finished, don't you see this? 2/3 bucks is pretty OK for a game like this and I paid, promptly.
But now you're asking me to pay again, and... worst of all, the 2 don't have the first 14 chapters, so... I'm pretty sure you'll end up charging people after another 15~20 chapters.
Again, not the price, the principle. I really enjoyed the game, artwork is cool and all of that but I just can't keep paying without a single finished game.
