Once you get past the prologue, the game gets easier and more enjoyable.The prologue was in beta phase so it makes sense that it's a bit 'iffy'.
Skip through the texts you have already read and then save a bunch of save files before you choose a choice. The difficulty of the game is reasonable because it's actually satisfying to get that 'best' ending after a bunch of tries.
