Great writing! I've only recently 'discovered' visual novels with adult content and I've found a few diamonds in the rough. But this one really sets itself apart. The writing is so much more refined. The characters are people you hope exist in our cynical world.

The one thing I felt was a bit off was Cassian and Penny describing their relationship as a mother/son thing when they're very close in age. I have no problem with Penny being gay - there are no doubt plenty of people who would appreciate the representation. In a perfect world you could make her sexuality a choice and the story changes with that choice but that's another thousand hours and perhaps work for a team rather than a single person. Perhaps a compromise would be to make her bisexual - though the prologue really seems to set up a certain strength in her's and Leah's relationship, despite some lines to indicate that it's a fairly recently established relationship and not set in stone.

The amount of detail in the writing, giving the reader a glimpse into the life of a person with dwarfism, a person with ADHD/Autism .. plus characters talking about people and their motivations .. the story is almost a treatise in psychology and philosophy but it never gets dry.

I'll be looking forward to its continuation, and in the meantime I'll be checking out your other work. =)

Thank you so much, Anduril! Unfortunately Penny's game has been suspended for now. It wasn't received well enough by the community to justify putting in the years of work it would take to finish the story. I sure am sorry to disappoint you.

Changing Penny's sexual preference is a dangerous road, especially in these times. She's an established character from my first game Avalon. My fans have come to know her as a lesbian. I did briefly consider switching perspectives to Cassian and allowing all the women to be potential love interests for him but I was met with harsh backlash at the idea.

My current project is A Petal Among Thorns. It's considerably different in tone and theme but it's been overwhelmingly well received. Chapter 3 of A Petal Among Thorns should release early next month which is when I would recommend picking it up.

I appreciate the praise you've given to Penny's game more than you know. It was a passion project that I adored and Penny is someone truly special to me but this story just wasn't quite right for this market.

Yeah I can imagine its audience is by no means .. hmm .. I don't want to insult others here on Discord but it's simply not one for the .. average guy. Though I would think it would score better with women, having strong female characters.

But maybe at some point in time, hopefully your other projects will be successful enough that you can devote time to a passion project - when just making a living doesn't have to be an absolute priority.

It's a pity there aren't more creators like you. When I think about movies .. they have, to some extent, devolved into action flicks, rom-coms and the occasional drama. But are they following the audience or did the audience devolve because of the Hollywood blockbuster and a growing unwillingness to take risks on the part of executives? There are exceptions of course but the trend doesn't look good.

Need more of you and Joss Whedons .. though preferably Joss Whedon without the inappropriateness toward his cast. Eh. What a world.  : )

I actually don't see Penny and Cassian as being in a relationship given their beginnings. The reference to their real names and what Penny says about him does point that way though .. don't paint yourself into a corner. Heh heh. I just thought they should more realistically think of each other as comrades in arms rather than mother/son.

I have some great ideas I'd like to try out in this market. A Petal Among Thorns is going to be much more accommodating to the majority's preference in this market. After APAT, I have two sequels planned. Once they're completed, I would like to try something unique again similar to Penny's game but balanced more so a broader audience can enjoy it.

I was a huge fan of Buffy and Angel when I was younger. Joss does a great job with character development. He's certainly a talent I look up to.

When is the next projected release of APAT?

I'm aiming for early October for the Chapter 3 release of A Petal Among Thorns. It's close. :-)
