for question 1, you need to complete the in between worlds event, which is the crossover between TOS and LD.

for question 2 if a update deletes saves we will be alerted in the update before the saves are wiped. so they should still be there next time.

Can I ask again? I just finish the between worlds and the Lizard's Treasure event, can I somehow locate the squid looking creature?

if your done with that one you need to gain either 21 or 41 like with rhot then sleep in the temple for a bit. that should trigger the first event then you go tell rhoushk about the event and sleep until the next day at home and the next one triggers. thats where you first meet him.
