ohhh, this issue never happened for me, sorry for this issue I will Try to fix it (not sure), but this maybe resolve your problem:
Go to Document Folder
Then X Comic Downloader Folder (User/Document/X Comic Downloader)
There is a File Called setting.json, Delete it; it will reset setting and maybe solve issue but I am not sure and I will try to Fix this Bug in Next Version (Not Sure Again, because I have no Idea where is this issue come from).

Update in terms of 1.9.8 update (as user):
same issue but now ther was "SyntaxError: Unexpected token e in JSON at position 469" with it dk what it means, maybe you know it
tbh probably just a me or my laptop problem since my laptop can lag at 1 graphics on roblox, which is VERY bad, since its supposed to be newer than my sisters laptop or something. Dont get too frustrated about it pls!
