HONK was inspired by veadotube. I regularly recommend it as a starting point, it's free and is PNG tubin' in it's purest form.

To share a little history of HONK:

I wanted to bring my character GROMBIT (the frog included with the tool 🐸) to life for some game trailers I have planned (a separate mon game I'm making called ToDoMon).

I started with Veado but wanted to add lipsync to help sell the narration. So I made a PNG tuber app for my character GROMBIT with bouncing, eye tracking, rotating, and lipsync!... BUT It had no editor (my character only with no way to change it or make your own). My friends loved it and wanted the Unity project to make their own. It proved too complicated/difficult to make their own in Unity. So I set out to make an editor (HONK) that let them create custom lipsync png tuber characters easily and without writing code. I interviewed some PNGtuber friends and added features they wished were in Veado (like pixel perfect editing). I polished it up and released it here. I couldn't release it for free since it took a LOT of time away from ToDoMon and I have bills to pay. I'm trying to keep it as affordable as possible because vtuber apps sure are expensive (also part of the reason I made it).

Veadotube is amazing and deserves praise. HONK has some special features that it doesn't (multiple layers, lipsync, eye tracking, rotation animations, pixel perfect). I made HONK because there were features I wanted in Veado. Hopefully HONK helps create a more diverse and exciting set of tools for people bringing characters to life.

Hopefully that makes you feel a bit better!! :o
