aaand-smol timeskippity skap to like three weeks later.

Sun had a habit of looking up sharply whenever a carriage trundled along the drive or when the front door opened when his dad was away. Now, he was looking up nervously every time there was a sound from outside. He looked back down at his Latin and tried not to listen to his step-siblings muttering just outside the room.

Edin: "He's completely batty if he thinks his dad's coming back, it's been three weeks already."

Thalia: "Journeys take a long time. Besides, even if his dad does come back, it's not going to stop us, is it?"

Edin: "We've gone on for this long with him. I just hope I get my knife in time."

Thalia: "You're going to have to be careful.... mother'sother's on to us."

Edin: "Please, Mother knows something's up, but you think she'd believe the Devil incarnate over her own flesh and blood?"

Sun swallowed and tried to focus on what he was reading. Periculum. That meant danger, didn't it? Fitting.

Thalia: "She likes Sun, though. She's worried about how jumpy he is."

Edin: "The sunburn's always jumpy. That's just how he his."

The sound of the door opening stopped his step-sibling's conversation short.

This time, he did not worry about the door opening, if anything, he tried to block out any noise possible, his ears rung as some sounds… grew louder, there was a point it felt like the sounds were so loud, it was hurting his own ears, his hands were placed on the side of his ears as his eyes were shut tight, desperately trying to make the sound stop.. when..-

His stepmother walked into the room, wiping her eyes.

"quietly Sun....can you come here, please?"

The ringing would soon slowly fade, and he’d look up at her for a moment.. then just simply grab his book, close it.. and walk up to her

“.. Is there something you need.. mother..?”

She bent down to get on his level, speaking without emotion although she was holding back tears.

"Your father is dead."

…The words were so.. blunt.. his expression didn’t even seem to change.. nor did he react facially.. but in his thoughts.. he was going through every type of emotion, sadness from his now dead father.. anger for his step siblings making fun of his own.. “their” own fathers death.. worry for what would happen to him now that he would never return.. but no matter what he thought.. no matter what his mind was going through.. his expression just wouldn’t.. change..

She hugged him softly, letting out a sob.

"You're a dear boy, so I don't think this should be kept from you anymore. Jason left us with no compensation. His will reads that all he has aside from his estate would go to the National Reform he worked for, so we have nothing."

He wanted to hug her back so badly, but his body just would not move.. his tone was flat, as if just.. all the emotion he had “left”.. was gone

“..
I feared that, I should’ve known father would leave us not money, nor anything to support ourselves.. mother.. I know this will sound awful, considering the loss we have.. and this will not make me lose myself.. I promise you that.. but may I suggest an idea on how I could support us..? I understand if you say no, but I will not listen otherwise.. I will have to do what I must to support us, knowing my sib…-ahem-, Those strangers downstairs will not help, I think it’s best if I do what I may.. can I speak if thy idea..?”

She nodded

"Go ahead..."

Now, I won’t “actually” say this idea, as it may be a bitttt of a trigger.. but, I “can” say it if you’d actually want me to, I’m asking first since I think it’s best. Do you want me to explain, or leave it best alone?

((Lol, sorry, I’m just really trying to make sure you’d be fine with it ;-w-;))
