I take it you've tried GB Studio then? It seems popular, and easy enough to get started with, but maybe your experience was different.
Actually, coincidentally....as of right now I'm resorting to gb studio as my start to come from first. It just feels a lot easier for what I'm doing at the moment for a game. Just.. at the moment..
