Wow. I love this! The visuals are all very concise (and animated to the beat of the music!), controls are so simple that they never get in the way, and the music is boppin~ Can I ask what plugins you use? lol

The design of choosing between three paths is a really interesting touch - especially because every event is visible. It adds a surprisingly present yet simple layer of thought to which path to take, especially once health gets a bit low.

Everything being placed on one screen is also a nice touch. The UI covers health, inventory, info popups, paths - it's all very concise. The ability to hover any item or enemy and have an info popup nicely explain what it is was also a great touch. The only thing I didn't understand at first were the red and blue icons at the top, and the two square at the bottom left - but I was able to figure them out once I started adding more items.

One note I do have is, I wonder if there's any advantage of staying on a floor instead of descending. Since only some paths could go down, the player could theoretically just grind an easy floor. Or do the opposite and race to the bottom, grabbing any items to immediately scale themselves up.

For items, I might suggest trying out destructable equipment. I get a lot of swords, often of the same damage rating. It might be more dynamic if equipment broke after three or so battles. Or it could completely break the game - but it could be something to try.

Overall, this is a very nice experience. I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Well done!

Thanks. The idea of a sword breaking is inspiring!

According to komekami, the main plugins he used were Serum, OTT, Ozone9, and he also used a lot of sample sounds from Splice.

Thank you for the follow up! I never would've guessed this was Serum - this music sounds so original. But then again, I might not have spent enough time with OTT. In any case, your partner picked a very nice sound palette for this project.
