My game, Planetary Ranger is a hybrid of hack & slash and top down shooter in a way. 

Realities are colliding and ghost enemies are back from the dead, but they are fake and cannot be damaged. So the problem is, if you waste a ranged weapon on one, you're down a ranged weapon with nothing to show for it except now knowing that enemy is a ghost. Also, there are some instances where the level design was very intentionally made so if you waste your time trying to kill one enemy only to find its a ghost, you are now surrounded by real enemies that will shred through you!
