both jump 2 (power jump), and jump 3 (hover jump) work if you hold down the jump key, unlike jump 1 (multi jump), which you use when you hit the jump key in mid air. If you just press the jump key, and quickly release the power jump acts like a normal jump, which is not an air jump.
Hover jump's mana cost is deducted right after you you use it, and more mana gets deducted after the bar goes down.

Side Note, Power Jump stops your movement when you start charging it, but you can still squat down for extra boost.

Reminder if you have no mana, then pressing the jump key is just gonna do a normal jump (which is not an air jump). You can still hold the jump key for Power jump even without mana, and it is going to deduct mana as soon as you regenerate it.

"In my opinion the jump bar should be different color than the mana one"

I will keep that in mind when I am gonna be replacing UI.

Ah the thing is, if you quickly tap jump in hover mode in the air you won't hover and still lose mana, that's why I was confused

Yes, a quick tap of jump key in the air while having hover jump enabled would still momentarily stop your falling even for a tiny moment, so it costs Mana. Holding down the jump key wouldn't charge you more than the initial Mana until the bar reaches the bottom, so it's better to hold it, instead of simply tapping the key.

With 3 different jump abilities, they all play differently, and have different use cases.

  1. Multi Jump is good for general mobility, and precision landing, and it lets you move far while in mid air especially when comboed withthe Dash ability.
  2. Power Jump gives is the most vertical jump, e.g in the vertical room with 4 bouncing mushrooms, you can use it to jump from floor to the top platform without using the mushrooms. The disadvantage of the jump is it takes time to charge up, and stops your movement.
  3. Hover Jump can be precise, and it lets you skip many obstacles, but it costs more Mana, and I think it is quite slow.

I also have plans on eventually having those abilities unlockable, and upgradable, but that's for when I actually implement Skill Points, and Skill Trees.

Thank you for playing, and all the feedback
