Hey!
I tried really hard (30 min) to get through the 3rd level but once a green slime touches me my health drops -5 per step and then i have -350 at some point and can still walk but once another slime hits me the game says its over but i can still see the game behind the screen and can move further! But I cannot end the level this way. I will try to avoid the green one but it is really hard. Other than that I really like the approach here!
What I liked
- The map-replacement-void thingy (this is a nice twist!)
- The pixel graphics over the 3D environment looks great!
- Different kinds of potions including the regeneration potion. That is smart and leads to ...
- The puzzles that are made using the map and the potions which are the best thing!
What could be better?
- The map overlays the screen and does not display the tile orientation, so I cannot know how the tiles are oriented. This is problematic for corners, since the direction is not clear. I managed to guess the direction right after some tries tho.
- In level 3 after a green slime hit me my health would drop slowly below zero in the far negative range. Touching another slime that hits me after that will kill me instantly. Health potions do not revert or stop that process.
- The controls are a bit fiddly. I guess its a mix of collisions and timed enemy movements that prevents smother controls here. At some points i need to walk sideways to get through a corridor at some points I cannot move at all (in some of the big rooms with potions i could not get over the center.)
- Fighting the slimes is not always working since the W key is not always responding. Also slimes can walk onto the same field as I am and stick in me.
All in all, I would love to play it in a more finished version and try to beat the puzzles that come after level 3 ^^.
