Yeah, you need to keep an eye on your mood or else Sammy will start to go crazy and seek out ways to have fun on her own. This can lead to her getting plastered and doing things she can't remember.
I have had this spiral out of control, where you get stuck in a loop until you get lucky. The game can really bog down if it happens at key times.
I think there should be another way to bring her spirits up, even if it costs you something else. Maybe playing dice with someone near the fire (with other negative consequences).
