Hi, sorry to hear that. Did you by any chance run KlangTest.bat? Found out recently I had the Steam uninstall script included in the itch submission. If you've tried to run the bat file manually from the games folder it would explain the missing save file.

Please let me know if that wasn't it.

Cheers

Tinimations

Hi, first of all I wanna say your support is awesome.

After downloading I wanted to start it via the itch launcher, which didnt work (nothing happens), so I started it always with the nw exe. Yesterday I accidentally  pressed "start" in the launcher again (I dont know exactly what happens, but it surely doesn't start the game and it hopefully doesn't run KlangTest.bat, but that is highly unlikely) and then as always via the nw exe. And there I couldn't continue (tried it with a restart ofc).

So I didn't run anything besides the nw exe. Where exactly is the save file normally located or what is it called?

Greetings

The save file is located at this folder in very obscure link path:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Klang2\User Data\Default\IndexedDB\chrome-extension_gcmhekclmgamclhemmgplpngafohjgop_0.indexeddb.leveldb

000003.log is the actual save file. The steam version has an extra CloudSaveFile.txt in the same folder, which takes priority over the nightmare fuel log file.

Some other things I can see affecting the save file:
- The game engine generates this save folder. Are you playing on Windows 7, 10 or 11? If it's played on Linux I can't guarantee the save file system even works.

- Are you using any folder cleanup software that may delete files in AppData?

- I don't know if the Itch app affects anything. I reached out to support once I learned the game can't boot from the client. Never heard back from them. :(

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot.

I searched for the files and the whole "klang2" folder  in "Local" wasn't there at all (so my old save is sadly gone). After playing the intro to create a save it shows up with the save file and everything else.

And just for testing purposes I pressed the "start" button in the itch app again and as result the whole "klang2" folder was gone again.

So it is actually because of the itch app.

Very unfortunate but its always a relief finding the problem. And maybe it'll help someone to avoid the same mistake (if this happens reproducable).

Thanks again for the help, it was a pleasure playing the game, your support is awesome and have a good day :)

Greetings

Thanks for clarifying. Now I'm seriously wondering if the itch app tries to use the .bat through some weird auto detect feature, or if it has it's own appdata content it tries to create...
