What do you mean exactly?On the home screen, you have to press x to add the second player. Other than that it should work fine as single player.
When I press E to start, It doesn't work unless I have the second player active.
You need to click start with your mouse - unless I'm mistaken? Can you please take a screenshot the next time you try to play. Thanks in advance :)
You're supposed to use enter to start on single player mode, I think.
