I tried as you said and the error doesn't appear in the new game from the beginning!
In that case, deleting "cache" folder might prevent that error from happening in current save file.
I also updated by downloading the new zip file. I just tried deleting the cache folder and nope same error. I guess I will ignore the underwear for the rest of this playthrough since I'm in september and really dont want to start all over.
