Nice job! Good side-scrolling action, the controls were a little weird at first.
Yeah, the controls were a tug of war for me between trying to make it feel like something classic like Contra, and having its own unique feel that might be a bit jarring to long time gamers, but hopefully it doesn't take too long to get used to.
