I found that there is usually a highlighted bubble. So, you can use the up arrow key until you think the top is highlighted then press enter.
I found a way to get out of it through editing saves. You have to save, open the save in notepad, go to the end, and change "DialongPieceIndex": 0" to "DialongPieceIndex": 1"
Once you've done that, load up your save and you'll be leaving.
