In 3990, a swarm of self-replicating Náóá nanobots began to replicate uncontrollably, devouring vast swaths of Záóí at a rate which Náóá scientists had formerly deemed impossible. After several days of rapid expansion, the swarm seems to have become dormant, but not before consuming approximately 5% of the entire mass of Záóí and rendering Náóá civilization completely extinct 5% and they become extinct? is this a bug?

5% of the mass of a planet is a *lot*.Keep in mind it isn't talking about population. Not only that, but the nanobots likely traveled above ground, consuming all Náóá in their path.
