Main Theme: The simplicity of the main melody is very beautiful! When it returns in the strings toward the end, I like the variation you used in the rhythm with pick-up notes that break it up into phrases which help it make perfect sense to my ears.
Hopeless Escape: I think that the “hopelessness” of this track comes mostly from the somber melody that is long and beautiful, especially in the cello. I noticed in your screen share that you doubled the solo cello, yet it sounded like a single cello (albeit a beautiful one). I wonder what the reasoning for that was and is there some secret you know that can help me make my cello lines sound like yours?
Looking Backward: You’ve found a stellar and unique combination of instruments in the piano, celesta, cello, and flute. I love the change in texture when the celesta was added in. I think there is great potential for this song to build into an epic conclusive piece if you ever wanted to extend it.
Overall: I appreciate your process to composing where you focus on a harmony expressed in a moving voice that has momentum and then using a simple but effective melody overtop. These were very relaxing pieces to listen to. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing!
