Congrats for submitting something for this! Unfortunately, I couldn't complete the game because even after killing all of the guards and the "head" guard, I was never given a key to get into the door. :(

It seems like you have a good story set up here, but you'll definitely want to take another look at your mapping. You have a few tiles that are misplaced (grass for tree tops, or plates floating off of edges of surfaces, for example) and your eventing often ends on the wrong page (leaving the door open, to then close it when you try to open it again) or doesn't end properly (the wind sound never stops once you use a fire to save). Something else to keep in mind with maps is that if you have large maps, there should be a purpose for them, other than just to feel expansive. Especially in a game where you've turned down the player's walk speed to laboriously slow, you want to make sure your maps are small and have a reason to traverse them.

You tried out some good basics with this and I hope you'll check out some basic mapping and eventing tutorials to continue improving your skills in the future!

Sorry about that, still learning game design in my free time. When the jam ends I'll update it more. Just glad someone made it that far at least :)

No worries! Jams are the best for learning and improving! Happy to have played. :)
