(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)
Semi-on-the-fly remarks:
Spoiler: on the game page: oh no, this feels like an auto-spoiler! :o "But when Dave's true intentions are revealed,"
by the way: game page synopsis -> makes me think of "Portal 2"!
cool menu! :) Including level selection feature!
music loop from the menu is just a bit audible ;) (being nitpicky, sorry!)
misspelling "your a bucket" (ah, discard that, errors are on purpose for Dave!)
"Dave" = reference to "2001: A Space Odyssey"?
nice detail: name "???" becomes "Dave"
love the meta-humour ("like in other games")
Controls are QWERTY-only instead of layout-independent (I have an AZERTY keyboard), BUT arrow keys are enabled.
reaching rightward platform: oh, I had not noticed the right click logo in the introduction! :o Nice! But maybe you should place it otherwise, or add a small background for it; I had not noticed it the first time possibly thinking it was an in-game object?
mop is saved! I guess this is the sidequest feature the game page talks about!
testing the spikes: oh, sudden reset of the level! Some visual effect and sound would have been nice
(level 3) tried jumping and making the platform appear on the bucket to see if this caused a bug ;) Apparently, merely a simple collision? I wonder if you can get stuck in the middle
showing the level number when in the level could help, when you play without level selection
Spoiler: secret for mop in level 8 helps me in hindsight for level 6, I think X)
Level 8: oh, getting the mop and THEN losing still counts the mop as obtained! :o I feel this is a bit too lax
Oh, possible bug: the upper-right spikes from level 8 are harmless! X)
Aaah, the way to end for level 8 is unexpected, I thought you still had to move [spoiler] after the moving hole.
BUG: I had VOLUNTARILY left one mop behind (in level 4, and still also had to go find that from level 6), but I am still treated with the special bonus for finding them all! :o
Spoiler: is the joke that Dave is a bomb? X)
Dave’s voice and the living bucket/objects concept remind me of "Banjo-Kazooie" XD
Looking for level 6’s mop: WHERE IS IT?! O_O I cannot find it!
Takeaway: I enjoyed the game; its narration has a very "Portal 2"-esque vibe. :) I think the mechanic of having to click through the dialogue to modify the level is interesting! Nevertheless, it seems the mechanic is used not too much (except in the last levels), and always quite linearly (the best strategy, once knowing the dialogue out of curiosity, is to click your way the hell out of the mouse!). The level design made the game rather easy, except once again for some later levels with some tricky passages (especially the one with the conveyor belts, and the last level (8) where you have to be quick). In particular, I think you could have put the more skilled players to the test by having the mops in more challenging spots! (Maybe this is the case for level 6 and I am a partly a fool, then. XD) The narratively driven mechanic connects well to the theme. Also liked the graphics you chose and arranged; some more sounds would have given some more life and cues, especially when losing and jumping (although you did put one for falling/colliding!), but those present are nice (laughing points for Dave’s voice XD And also the alarm!).
I think this is an interesting and funny prototype that could be enhanced with more challenge, basically!
Thanks for the good (?) time with clumsy Dave. :)
