1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?
Hello! I'm Katie, or adanteallegro! I'm primarily a tutor for a couple of middle schools and an online teacher, teaching English to students living in China! Nice to see you all again!
2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?
The last jam I took part in here was the Winter Jam 2017. I'm mostly just planning on finishing another game, right now, I just want to focus on finishing more things.
3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?
My top top favorite games are the Paper Mario Series, the Animal Crossing Series, the Pokemon Series and Undertale! Initially, I became interested in game design after reading the Undertale art book and seeing how everything was put together. It really showed me that anyone can make a game. I wanted to make a game too!
4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?
So far, I have made two complete games: one in Game Maker and one in RPG Maker VX Ace. For the Game Maker game, I made it for a previous My First Game Jam. For the RPG Maker game, I made it for a Yume Nikki Jam!
5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!
Lately I've been REALLY into crocheting! It's very therapeutic and I find that I can get into the zone of things pretty quickly. Plus, I can make a bunch of cute stuffed animals with it!
6. What are your goals for this game jam?
It's...mostly just to game my game done and out there. I'm not planning on making it perfect. I often set incredibly ambitious goals in the vast majority of my creative projects, and as a result, nothing gets done. I want to change that, finishing one project at a time.
7. Any advice to new participants?
Make a schedule! Time management is your best friend in this. Figure out what you want to get done each day. What days are best for you to get programming done? How about art? Music? If you chunk up your time like this, then you can get a lot more done, rather than flying by the seat of your pants.
8. What can the admins do to improve your jam experience?
Give me a high-five. o/
9. What are some of the past works you've made for the jam? Show off your favorites!
Rise to the Top, Cinnaroll! is my very first finished game, made for My First Game Jam Winter 2017. You are a coach, scheduling training for a sassy cinnamon roll athlete in order to get ready for the Bakeoff Olympics! The primary inspiration for this game is the Princess Maker series.
Nice to be back in this!
