I had this problme for a very long time. The fix for me was that the "app" was disabled for me sincd I hadn't used in a long time. Check your disabled apps and then uninstall then reinstall it. Also check your folders and storage to see if you have old version data.
That's the unlucky part for me. Unless you download a save data this method erased all my data (i did delete the files i had beforehand too not sure if that was stopping me) Try just uninstalling the app, but not the data associated with it. I dropped the game because I had no idea if the content was finished or not for the past update.
