The dice rolling system is a good mechanic; it adds some randomness to the outcomes and makes me weigh my decisions much more carefully. I also liked the character art. The story, though, felt fairly well-trodden--it doesn't go anywhere that I haven't seen in a lot of other fantasy books. But maybe it will go in a direction I don't expect later on.
