Writing: The characters are fun, and they’re having fun too. And maybe I should try selecting all the characters to see all the endings. I have seen the witch, the flower, the vampire and the singer and the robot ninja fairy pirate princess though (I hope I got those words in the right order).
Theme: It’s a Halloween party, so I guess it counts. And those costumes were fun.
Audio: The music sounds fun and slightly spooky, and wouldn’t feel out of place at a Halloween party. (You do want it to be fun if it’s at a party, right?) The sound effects work well too.
And I really like the voice acting. Maybe the fact that a lot of the VNs from this jam don’t have VA at all also makes me like this one more, but yeah, it helps show the personality of the characters, and there’s quite a few characters, which probably made it take more effort to get it all to sound good together.
Art: I like the art in this one a lot. Both the backgrounds, the characters and the pumpkin carving thing. And the UI! Well, maybe the notebook/essay font is a little bit distracting from the text that’s written in it. Putting all the letters on the same baseline rather than some letters floating higher than others would probably not have taken much style away, but it would have made it slightly nicer to read, which I guess Mrs. Gorman would appreciate. (And yeah, I did read that name from the screenshot in the other comment, I could probably have loaded an autosave and read it from the VN, but the screenshot was closer.)
Fun: There were quite a few characters to keep track of, so I like that there was a notebook. I did use it to remind myself who was dressed up as what.
Oh! And maybe I should mention that the credits roll a bit quickly, which can make them a bit hard to read, and why am I mentioning that in the fun category? Because that’s where I mention programming-related stuff.
And speaking of technical stuff, I also liked the two minigames, both the one that used choices and the one with the pumpkin. Kinda wanted to make an owo pumpkin (or as close as I could get… and if I’d been able to make eyebrows for it I’d probably have tried to make it ôwô. And yeah, I could probably have given it a Christmas cap (although supermarkets have started filling the shelves with Christmas stuff already!) But I decided to give it a witch hat because I’m playing this VN in October. I’ve tried some different combinations of decorations, but yeah, I haven’t tried Christmas stuff yet. Maybe I’ll play this VN again in December just to try making a really christmassy pumpkin. And maybe I should have taken some screenshot to show here.
My favourite parts of this VN: the writing style and the fact that there was voice acting.
My least favourite parts of it: I think I really liked this VN but… Maybe the fact that on my second playthrough I couldn’t see which characters I’d already interviewed because all characters were highlighted as if I’d already interviewed them.
