Evaluation
The environment in Sisu Mies is really beautiful. The lighting, color grading, fogging, and the landscape are all quite stunning. The world is vast and seemingly infinite although there are boundaries if you explore far enough. There is an initial sense of solitude, but also of disquiet as you begin the game. All that lays before you is a log cabin and a few supplies to go along with your trusty rifle. What lies in store? Evil Mooses that's what!
Unfortunately, the developer had the very untimely theft of his property, including the computer to develop this entry and even though he was able to recover a backup of the game, it was incomplete and he did not have the means to complete it as he had planned. Consequently, there is a lot missing from this game, but I do not chalk that up to lack of design or skill, but rather circumstance.
With that being said, this game had a lot of potential, which was unfulfilled. The vast landscape is only populated by the Evil Mooses that pop up to attack and the occasional lookout tower. Consequently, there is only the endless Moose hunt through a vast, mostly empty wilderness. Which is very sad because I know this was going to be so much more.
I encourage the developer to complete the game and release his original vision in its entirety. Keep on coding and making games. There clearly is talent here.
Bugs
- Aiming seems to be off on the gun. When pointed directly at the Moose, it misses, but if aiming off to the right then it hits
- You can walk off the end of the world if you run far enough
General Criticisms
I refrain from adding any general criticisms since anything I could suggest probably would have been implemented had the developer not been robbed and not had the time or means to complete the game.
