Hear it's abandoned. Any dev who cannot get updates out at least every three months is going to abandon the game, I have learnt that. Because the longer the gaps, the more people will download without paying. Sometimes all it takes is keeping people updated with the development log regularly. Do neither, and the project will fail.
Well, with all due respect, it's gamers like you, that let devs off, that are the problem with this genre, and the reason why it will always remain tiny. Itch is part of this problem, as without it, devs would have to get on Steam or GOG, so would have to be more professional... Instead they are allowed to be very amatuer and borderline criminal!
>So I would say 0.00001% of games are abandoned on Steam
Clearly you haven't browsed further than the Popular games, because there are a fuck ton of abandoned games on Steam. I'd be willing to wager that at least 25% if not more of the total games on Steam have been abandoned, though because of their obvious unpopularity because of that, they don't show up unless you're searching broad genres and diving deep into the search results
You patently don't know what you're talking about! 25% is just a ridiculous figure. The fact is AVNs are a tiny tiny market, and the only AVNs that sell well are on Steam. Love of Magic has sold 1 million plus! I'll be surprised that games like this, that are mucked around with, sell in the 100s in terms of people paying money for the game. Of course they make $10,000s with their dumb Patreon customers paying through the nose every month while they wait for the next update!
