I think this was my favorite new comic I read this year, and I admit it's because of the "Till We Have Faces" quote that drew me in. It was a novel that reinvigorated my love of myth and folklore, and is, just as this comic is, a powerful story of belief that exists within and without the Self.

The height of the story was so gripping and magnetic that I immediately felt the echos of the climax of Lewis' novel, written jointly with his wife, Joy Davidman. I have a first edition copy, it was the book my partner proposed with, it was a book that convinced me to keep living. And here, Wise takes that thread of transcendence and weaves it into a rich and arresting tapestry of prayer and anger, love and pain.

There are so many small, beautiful panels and moments where I just sat with a page. I know this is a comic I will come back to again and again, even though I can feel the literal squeeze of my heart at the thought. Amazing, beautiful work. Thank you for bringing it into the world.
