I’ve downloaded the zip for the latest release on windows, but when running the game it always shows as v1.2.0 everytime

Ah ok, if that's the case then great, but it still doesn't solve the problem with the save file. Do you have an idea for what might be causing this? I've avoided saving in the player room as it might have been a problem in earlier versions.
Got it fixed, it was a little bit of a bitch but saves should now be properly working now, let me know if any problems persist.
