Where do I even begin? :D

Well, I recorded myself playing the game: https://youtu.be/uvDQ4ix_ci8

To my surprise, piccoloplay found out about this video before I was ready to share it. :D I wanted to share the video as a complementary thing to the review.

Note that I do understand that many things are obscure in this game intentionally. I’ll complain about the things anyway. :D

So, my random thoughts about the game:

  • Math -> sleep (c)

  • This game surely knows its worth, aahahah. I think if wasn’t that big, maybe more jam folks would try it out. Not everyone want/can download something that big. It’s a commitment of sorts. :D I might be wrong though.

  • I like the style. This game is funny, although I guess it was too cringy for me at times. :D ThERE iS no WaY i wILL enjOY a TEXT written like THIS. :D

  • The amount of out of game content you prepared for the game is amazing. Are you doing this with all of your games?

  • It looks like this “nerds only” section contains a tutorial that this game really needs. :D It’s written in some not very easy to understand way, but it’s something. :D I would say that “nerds only” sounds like something with extra content (lore, etc) or super hard challenges. I wouldn’t bet that every player will find that tutorial before they lose a battle and rage quit the game. :D

  • I think I understood what the tutorial tried to explain about the elements, but this gender thing completely escaped my mind. :D Maybe because it’s a little bit awkward to think about this aspect. :) All in all, I think knowing the elements didn’t help me and I still managed to lose.

  • If left as it is, it could take more than 30 minutes for the player to start being more effective in combat. This requires some dedication and some players might quit before that. Depending on the goals, this might not be the thing you’re interested in. The worst part is that all story battles are quite hard and it’s possible to lose there several times in a row. Or you can win just because you were lucky and not learn anything new out of it.

  • I couldn’t figure out what’s the deal with “guard” (defend) action. The effect looked pretty random. Sometimes it made the defense go down. :D I’m not sure using it more than once is beneficial at all, but the button stays here, so you can waste your time using that…

  • I wish the stat changes were more apparent. I would like to see some diffs or other forms of hints that tell me “it changed from X to Y”.

  • Sleep -> math (c)

All in all, I had my share of fun. It was quite a unique experience.

You really put a lot of effort in you review! Thx a lot

So the guard works like this ahaha It restore 15 Hp and reduce the damage of your opponent for the next turn

The stats are only changed by the WuDang technique

As crazy as it sounds, some of this Chaos was intentional,

I wanted the player to feel

like a kid that plays Pokemon for the first time without reveling too much of the mechanics

I feel a little nostalgic of those times. Ahahaha

By the way thx again, gorgeous review

Damn!

I think I wasn’t paying attention for the hp. :D Is it useful in a battle when you’re playing the game correctly?

The stats are only changed by the WuDang technique

Let me pretend that I got it.

I feel a little nostalgic of those times. Ahahaha

You know what. I think I can play this Pokemon game for the first time since I never played it before. :D Which game are you referring to, exactly?

I waited to answer you, because I wanted to wish an happy new year! :D
So Happy new Bunny Year (to be precise, the Bunny Chinese year starts on January 22nd) dear quasilyte!
About Pokemon, I was thinking of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver (Old GameBoy Color Games)
