That's what I did, thank you! However, I have another issue now. I just started playing the game, but the backgrounds and CGs are mismatched, i.e. the upper and lower halves are skewed and not properly alligned.  I tried re-installing the game, playing in windowed mode, adding and removing the patch, and changing my computer's resolution, but nothing worked. I am going to try and add a screenshot to this post to show you what I mean. I'm playing on Windows.

Could you please let me know how to resolve this?

Oh wow, that's the first time I've ever seen a bug like this.

I feel like we should report it to the developer of the Ren'py game engine itself.

I would appreciate it! Any idea what else I could try? It's like all the backgrounds and CGs are split up into 3 misaligned segments. :(

I never had any issues with Ren'py games before. This error occurred right from the start and also affects the gallery btw. The strange thing is that the thumbnails look fine, but opening an image results in the above bug, which is also present in-game.

I managed to fix it!! I had to disable Ren'Py's OpenGL support, which is done by holding down shift while starting the game. I was then able to force the game to use a different software renderer from the available options and now the backgrounds and CGs look as they should both in-game and in the gallery. I am SO relieved. Hopefully I can finally enjoy the game now, lol.

A software-rendering issue, I see. I'll keep that solution in mind if someone else ever runs into this issue, thanks!

I have the same error >n< can you help me?

This is a known issue related to The Symbiant's game engine (Ren'py) when launched on very old hardware or outdated graphic card drivers.

To fix it, you can try the following steps:

  •  hold the SHIFT key while clicking the game launch button
  •  a grey screen will appear instead of the game, that's normal
  • select "Force GL2 Renderer", then "Quit"
  • Restart the game.
  • If the issue persists, go to that grey menu again and select "Force ANGLE2" Renderer" instead
