That's exciting to hear you are looking to create! I use Affinity Publisher (and the rest of that suite) to do layout and design for my projects. They are fairly inexpensive and are just a one-time fee (as opposed to monthly subs like Adobe). You can check out my recent Liminal Horror zine I made with Affinity Publisher to get an idea of a straightforward design that's fairly easy to learn to do (especially with online tutorials)!
