Ok, I have the 1st, 2nd and 4th numbers and read somewhere about using 9 as the last number but the door won't open. Am I missing something? Also, I have 1 empty spot on the item list, did I miss something?

It's randomized for each player and I block the ability to brute force any amount of digits.

For the third number, have you used the hammer?

Yes, I saw a post about the train car and got the last number and the gate is open. I know from reading this post earlier after I open the gate I'm not supposed to exit but get a final bonus puzzle. How do I get to the final puzzle and what do I gain from solving the puzzle rather than just leaving?

At the exit, you're offered the ability to leave. Decline that and instead take a left. Click the scroll and then head to the colored squares.
