Most enemies in turn based games such as this and other games in the genre like older Final Fantasy games do not show the health bar because it makes the fights more dynamic and tense because you aren't really sure if you are doing it correctly which is also why stats such as weaknesses are withheld until they are recorded into the Bestiary.
