The graphics of this game are really nice. I was skeptical of the mix of pixel art and lowpoly 3D at first, but it looks great ingame and I was quickly sold on the idea. It invokes some neo-retro, indie game vibes. The sound is sparse, but the effects work well.
Gonna be honest, though, I had absolutely no idea what was going on or what I was supposed to be doing. I wandered the level a bit, headed pretty far out wondering if that was meant to be part of the play area, and then eventually passed the level by pure trial and error once I realized that the cats could be clicked on.
In fairness, the game page does explain the backstory and the mechanics. And I think the gameplay concept as described is interesting, but I really feel it needs to be better explained in the game itself. I had no idea what the graphics in the dialogue boxes in the cutscene were supposed to be. I'd assumed it was some kind of visual storytelling and was trying to figure out what it meant, and I didn't realize it was a key part of the gameplay itself.
The game appears to be slightly cut off if not played in fullscreen. Probably an issue with itch.io settings?
