Thanks. My will to mix first-person exploration with combat on a grid comes from the old Dungeon & Dragon games which did exactly that, the actual presentation of the combat from no game in particular (reusing the portraits instead of full figures came naturally as some time gain, even if I'm almost certain I have played games I liked which did that too).
